Wifi VPN Router

This project aims to add VPN functionality to the Linksys WRT54G wireless router.

You might have already heard that WEP doesn't provide much security and it usually requires the same static keys to be used by every WLAN user. My proposed solution to these deficiencies is to require the use of state of the art VPN software for every WLAN user -- OpenVPN seems to be the best option, mostly because of its easy configuration for multiple clients.

Sveasoft source code credit?

I see from your source code repository that your firmware is based on a Sveasoft WRT54G firmware source distribution.

Could you please give Sveasoft credit for the work you are building on and also publish the version of our distro you are forking from?

Thanks,

Sveasoft Inc.

All the hard work done by Sveasoft ... "please give us 20$ to host linksys source code with some 1/2 broken mods"

Credit only where credit is due

I guess you did a quick grep over the repository and found about 5 occurences of the string "sveasoft" in it. Well, you have already found the credit (because these are the few and only places where I have merged features from the sveasoft firmware). And no, I don't consider merging 1 file and about 10 lines of source code a fork from sveasoft's firmware. Actually, it seems more likely to be a fork from the Zebra source code - because that seems to be the origin of the zencrypt and to64 functions (hmm, the sveasoft source code didn't include any reference to that one...)

Yes, you are right, I should really replace that few lines of source code because of the dubious origin (Samadhi_v2_2.00.8.5sv_src.zip didn't indicate any copyrights on the file rc/mkfiles.c, but it seems to be extracted from the Zebra source code).

To sum it up, I am already giving credit where credit is due.

Sveasoft acting misguided?

I must agree with Christof. The request really seems like a vain attempt for sveasoft to get more publicity.

Sveasoft has really taking the whole idea of GPL software to a new low as of late. First there are the threats to TheIndividual from James Ewing of Sveasoft . And then there is Sveasoft's thinly vailed attempt to take their firmware commercial with source code and source sharing restrictions for those not willing to pay $20 for their 'support'.
